May Fayre 2011
Wanborough Scarecrow Trail 2011
Fiday 22nd April – Sun 8th May 2010
The winners were as follows:
1st prize of £100 M&S vouchers: Ashleigh James, Aged 14 from Wanborough
2nd prize of £50 WHSmith vouchers: Lynn Steer, Aged 70 from Painswick, Gloucestershire
3rd prize of £25 Wanborough Herb Nursery vouchers: Andrew Crawley, Aged 40 from Highworth
The best scarecrow, as voted for by those attending the trail was No. 48: Carl Fredrickson by the O’Neill family. They win the £50 Hobbycraft vouchers which I’m sure they’ll put towards materials for next year’s scarecrow!!
Thank you to everybody who helped organise, setup and run the Wanborough May Day Fayre & Scarecrow Trail this year. The number of Bank Holidays and glorious weather has provided our best ever profit yet: £6,980 (last year £5,800). The funds will be used to replace the boiler and heating system within Wanborough Village Hall.
There were 53 scarecrows made by local families and primary school classes;
we sold 539 trail sheets and 96 children’s activity sheets (£1500 profit) and sold more refreshments than last year making a total profit from the scarecrow trail of £1950 (last year £1800).
Thanks again to all of you who supported this event including our four main sponsors: Nationwide Property Lettings, Barretts Accounting, Wanborough Herb Nursery and Bevirs Solicitors.
The answers are shown below – did you get them all right?
Next year’s Scarecrow Trail runs from Saturday 28th April – Sunday 13th May and the theme is the World of Shows & Plays. I already have a number of entries in for next year so if you are on the route and would like to be considered for a scarecrow in 2011 (or if you’re not on the trail route but would be willing to make a scarecrow that could be hosted by a family who do live on the trail) please contact me asap. We will limit the number of scarecrows to a maximum of 60 so please send your entries in early to avoid disappointment. Thank you.
